Bienvenue and welcome back to Musée Musings, your idiosyncratic guide to Paris and patisseries, I mean Paris and art. Valentine’s Day being Valentine’s Day, I made sure to do my part by enjoying a delicious meal in an elegant restaurant (Brasserie Bofinger) and a delightful sweet from a patisserie that always pleases (Yann Couvreur).
Bill from Ohio mentioned a Condé Nast list of 40 or so hotels (mostly grand) in Paris, suggesting that I try meals at their restaurants and report back. Alas, that’s not likely to happen.
But then, a few days later, the New York Times T Magazine sent out a list called ’The 25 Essential Dishes to Eat in Paris.’ I’m happy to say that I’ve eaten at several (the above mentioned Bofinger is on the list) and plan to try many of the others. The list is ‘11th arrondissement’ heavy. I know the area well, thanks to David Lebovitz’s newsletter in which he often celebrates his neighborhood (and now mine) - which borders the Marais and is just a few blocks from my favorite place, the Place des Vosges.
I hope you have a chance to read this week’s article, about a temporary exhibition in a ‘pop-up’ exhibition. Gros Bisous, Dr. B.
Readers Comments for which I am always grateful.
